We know firsthand that being on the road for long periods of time can take a lot out of you, physically and emotionally. We also understand that while you are hard at work for most of the day, you do a lot of sitting while trying to drive down busy highways which results in stress. When we are stressed we tend to eat foods that make us feel good for a short period of time, which in turn can lead to weight gain if we aren’t careful. That is why we want our drivers to be happy drivers while they are on duty!

Here are 3 ways that you can stay in good spirits while on the road:

  1. Eat healthy meals and exercise regularly
  2. Create a good mood playlist
  3. Take time to relax and just breathe

Eat healthy meals and exercise regularly

Even though it may not seem like it, you have the power and the choice to pick healthy meals over not so healthy meals when it’s time to stop and eat. More and more restaurants are offering healthy options, so it’s easier for everyone to grab something on the go. Also, choosing water over soda is another way to save on those extra calories.

Also, when you stop take some time and stretch at the rest areas to get your body moving and rejuvenated. To help get your blood pumping, try joining a 24-hour gym that is available all across the country that you can swipe your key-fob at. This way you have access to exercise equipment when you’re away from home.

Create a good mood playlist

There is nothing better than putting on your favorite song, putting your windows down, and just driving. That is why you may want to consider creating a playlist of your favorite tunes that way you aren’t bored of the commercials on the radio. Your favorite songs will help you stay calm and remind you of good times in your life, which will make your drive a little easier.

Take time to relax and just breathe

We all know that driving is taxing and can really stress you out. Since driving is such a big part of your job it is important that you take some time to relax. Whether you want to meditate in the evening, take deep breaths during the day, or write down everything you are thankful for in the morning it is important that you find something to do that helps you relax and remember that you too are human.
